Luke Young is in talks over a possible move to Loftus Road.

Young, 31, has started in his preferred right-back position in both of Villa's Premier League games so far this season, against Fulham and Blackburn. But he has been allowed to talk to Neil Warnock's side as they seek to rebuild under new owner Tony Fernandes.

If Young does indeed leave Aston Villa, their manager Alex McLeish has said he will immediately go out looking for a replacement.

"QPR have put a bid in for Luke which the club have accepted and he is talking to them now with my approval - as long as we can add to the squad,"

McLeish said. "The deal is not done yet but the indications are he will go to QPR.

"We will be looking to bolster the squad with an experienced player. If we are thin on the ground, it is (in terms of) experience. We have got a list of players. We have to be ready with some names for the board."

QPR have already completed the signing of Joey Barton from Newcastle on a four-year deal.
